Metropolitan Utilities District wants to make sure our neighborhood is well informed about the upcoming project to upgrade the gas lines in our area. The attached notification letter was recently sent to customers in the project area. This affects neighbors in the far Southeastern corner of our neighborhood association area. They asked us to share this information with the members of our association.

How Transitioning to Assisted Living Can Mean Health & Happiness
Please see the attached notice from the City of Omaha.
Public comment is requested regarding a rezoning of the property located at 2052 & 2054 Deer Park Blvd regarding the expansion of operations for Santa Monica Rehabilitation Services. Please see the attached notice from the city with additional details. The meeting will be held May 5th at 1:30pm.
Good afternoon,
The City of Omaha has conducted an Environmental Review per HUD regulations set forward in 24 CFR Subpart 58 for new construction projects planned at 3333 Miami Street and 1420 Villa Rows Court. The review requires a public comment period. The comment period for these environmental reviews is open from today, March 25, 2021 to April 9, 2021. The City is reaching out to you because you are listed as the contact for your neighborhood, which is located near one of these sites. We would appreciate your help in letting others in your neighborhood know about this public comment period. Attached to this email is a copy of the notice that ran today in the Omaha World Herald.
At each of these sites, Holy Name Housing plans to build row homes that will be utilized in their CROWN Rent to Own program. This program provides rental housing for low and very low income households. Seven row homes will be built at 3333 Miami Street and 16 will be built at 1420 Villa Rows Ct (15th and Spring Streets). Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at the City of Omaha Planning Department, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska, 11th Floor and may be examined or copied weekdays 8 A.M to 4 P.M. It is also available to view and print from the City of Omaha’s website at https://planninghcd.cityofomaha.org.
This comment period does not address general objections to the project. This project was included in the public hearing and comment period in January, 2020. This comment period is specifically for comments on the environmental review. The review gives residents information about the environmental impact of a project as well as the impact that the environment may have on residents at the project site. Feedback from you and your neighbors assists the City in identifying any sources of environmental concern that may have been overlooked as well as giving residents an opportunity to express opposition to the City’s findings. Comments may be submitted to hcdcomments@cityofomaha.org, mailed to the above address, or given verbally to me at 402-444-5150 x2024. Please call me with any questions that you may have.
Thank you,

Please see the attached zoning board notice regarding an upcoming hearing affecting our neighborhood. If you wish to voice any concerns, the information is contained in the notice.
Please see the details in the image below for the latest City of Omaha Zoning Board Meet affecting our Neighborhood.
Please see the attached announcement from the City of Omaha's Zoning Board. If you need a copy of this notice emailed to you, please send a request to info@deerparkomaha.com.
Please see below the letter inviting all in Deer Park to a public meeting to learn about extremely blighted designations that could qualify new homeowners for a state income tax credit in 2020. Parts of our Neighborhood are considered “Extremely Blighted” and this meeting would provide valuable information and resources to improve our community. If you need the letter in pdf format, please email info@deerparkomaha.com.
Good morning,
The City of Omaha's Community Development Division has completed a HUD-mandated environmental review for Phase II of the Victory Apartments at 10th and Dorcas Street. While the neighborhood is likely already familiar with this project, as Phase I has operated since around 2012, this project will add an additional 60 units of housing for low-income veterans in a currently vacant building on the same campus. This project required a review because rent for residents of this project will be supported by the Omaha Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Vouchers. It will be redeveloped, owned, and operated by Burlington Capital Real Estate.
I am requesting the neighborhood association’s assistance in distributing this document to any neighbors who may be interested in reviewing and commenting on the document.
This document addresses the suitability of the environment for this activity, assuring that the project will not negatively impact human health or the environment. Comments on the environmental review can be sent to hcdcomments@cityofomaha.org and questions can be directed to me at 402-444-5150 x2024 or nicole.engels@cityofomaha.org. The comment period ends on October 29 at 4:00 PM.

Other Wise Pt 2: How The Arts Grow Imagination at Project Project This Sunday
Sunday, July 7th
7PM-830PM
1818 Vinton Street
Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/260347651378066/
"Project Project is very pleased to welcome back Lonnie Potter to continue his 4-part lecture on the purpose of the arts. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
In his first talk, Potter showed that the arts help us to survive and thrive by growing our ability to imagine.
His second talk, on July 8th, is about how the arts grow our imagination. How do they do that? How do the arts help us to increase and strengthen our imaginative powers? What do they do that causes this to happen? What does a song, a story, a movie, a painting, or a poem do that makes our uniquely human imagination grow?
He’ll talk about what is required to grow imagination skills and how to recognize the characteristics of works that are more likely to grow your imagination. He’ll walk you through the questions you’ll need to find better works of the arts—works that will help you grow a better, healthier imagination for a better, more powerful mind. You’ll begin to see how the arts help human beings get better at being human."

Two Exhibitions Continue at Bancroft Street Market
Starting July 1st Bancroft will be hosting two exhibitions titled
"Natural Disasters" and "Nature's Grasp" in partnership with Frogman's Print Workshops. See dates and info from Facebook below.
Natural Disasters
"What constitutes a disaster and what makes it natural? Is a natural disaster when the earth is negatively affected or when the environment is the cause of the distress? “Natural” is defined as something not made or caused by humankind, creating a divide between humans and nature. Are human beings not mammals, after all, consequently, a part of fauna? What then of all of humankind’s actions? Are these activities “natural” and, if they are, are they inherently catastrophic?
The works in this exhibition examine different types of disaster, on different scales, both man-made and not. What is the aftermath of disaster and how do we deal with it? In the wake of tragedy, do we sink or swim?"
Nature's Grasp
"In this exchange portfolio participating artists explore humanity’s incredible ability to create, destroy, and interrupt, which sometimes conflicts with nature’s greater ability to achieve the same objectives. Awesome in their destructive power, natural events like earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes remind us that we are small and vulnerable and that living on this dynamic planet will always entail risk and responsibility. How do we strengthen the bond between humanity and nature?"
