Meeting This Wednesday!
Just a reminder our upcoming membership meeting is this Wednesday, April 11th at 7PM at the Sheet Metal Worker's Hall on 24th and Deer Park BLVD. As always, we'll have free dinner and our youth art class happening for the kids. Feel free to invite your neighbors!

DPNA Receives Community Development Week Award
We were honored to receive a Community Development Week Award this year. Participating cities across the state nominate organizations that have made significant community development accomplishments. DPNA was nominated by the City of Omaha Planning Department. Representatives will attend our monthly meeting on Wednesday to present this award to our members.  

The 2018 South Omaha Banquet
This year's banquet has changed locations and will now be held at the Livestock Exchange Building at 4920 S. 30th Street. The banquet is consistently one of the highlights of the year for community members and leaders in South Omaha. DPNA will be announcing our number of available tickets for members soon. Discounted tickets for neighborhood association members are available at sonaomaha.org. You can also plan to pay at the door, please RSVP to Mike McGuire at 402.840.9018. 

Sale Time At The Apollon!
Our neighbors at the Apollon are selling all kinds of furniture, equipment, and supplies collected across the years. Check out the Facebook Event here for more info. 


Another Habitat Home Dedication Coming Up
We're getting another new neighbor! Join us on Saturday, April 14th at 10AM at 2505 S. 20th Ave to welcome Angela to the neighborhood.

Nominate a South Omaha "Project of Merit"
Each year, the South Omaha Neighborhood Alliance recognizes "Projects of Merit" at the annual South Omaha Banquet. SONA is looking for impactful neighborhood based projects from the last year to be considered for recognition at this year's event. You can use the link below to nominate a project.

6th Annual Handmade Omaha Spring Art & Crafts Bazaar
Back at Bancroft Street Market this year is the 6th Annual Spring Arts & Craft Bazaar presented by Handmade Omaha. More than 25 local makers will be selling handmade goods. The Bazaar is from 10AM-Noon on both Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd.

THIS WEEK IN DEER PARK (2/26/18)

Catch up on what's happening in the neighborhood and with our association this week. 

SPRING CLEAN-UP SET FOR MAY 12th
Spring is (not to jinx it) right about the corner and with the changing of the season comes our annual Spring Clean-Up event. Our dump site will again be at Bancroft Elementary (2724 Riverview BLVD) and you'll be able to bring down all the things you need to get rid of, free of charge! We'll be on site from 9am-2pm. Word on the street is our grill master Rick Long might be serving up some burgers. Mark your calendars!

WE ADOPTED A PARK! 
We've been approved by our friends at Keep Omaha Beautiful to officially adopt Rudy Novacek Memorial Garden at 16th and Deer Park BLVD. During Spring Clean-Up on May 12th, we'll have teams of volunteers picking up trash both at Rudy Novacek and Deer Hollow Park at 18th and Deer Park BLVD. We'd love to have you join us. (If you're wondering, Deer Hollow Park is adopted by the South High School National Honor Society.)
 

PROJECT PROJECT WINS AN OMAHA ENTERTAINMENT AND ARTS AWARD

We want to congratulate Project Project for OEAA for "Bear Hug". The took home the "Best Presentation in a Non-Traditional Format" award. Check out facebook.com/weareprojectproject to learn more and support this great organization in our neighborhood.

First Annual Deer Park Baile

First Annual Deer Park Baile

Our first annual Deer Park Baile (Dance) event is coming up on Friday June 2nd. This family friendly event kicks off at 6PM and runs until 8PM. It features face painting, games, raffles, music, and of course, dancing. The Baile is being held at Sokol Auditorium on 13th and Martha Street. We hope to see you and your family there! This event was planned and coordinated by an amazing group of our Spanish speaking neighbors, many of whom are new to DPNA.

DPNA Holiday Party is December 14th!

It is time for our annual holiday party!

This year it will be held at the lovely and historic Sokol Auditorium.

Guests will have the option of choosing fish, beef, or chicken for their main entree, and of course there will be many sides!

Cost is $10 per person(Children 12 and under are free).

Cash bar and lots of fun!

It's Neighborhood SPRING CLEAN UP time. Yep, Deer Park is up first this season according to the City; DATE; April 16 Saturday, TIME: 9 am to 2 pm, LOCATION: Bancroft School parking lot. City's rule, NO yardwaste, human waste or hazardous waste; everything else we take. Tires go to 22nd & Leavenworth site. If there's a line, be patient, remember it's FREE.
